righties. i have an interesting artiHi! I heard that someone wrote to 'my paper' about stray cats & wrote that stray cats should be put to sleep as they carry illness. I have a self written composition that will your mind about stray cats.Stray cats don't mean to carry illness that might pass on to people. If you want to blame, you should blame the irresponsible pet owners who either do not sterilise their cats or throw out their cats. If you don't sterilise your cat, it might go out & meet other cats & next thing you know, your cat's pregnant, holding 20-40 kittens. That's what will happen if your female cat is not sterilised. For males, you may think oh it does not concern me. But you’re wrong. As your cat contributed to the other cats' pregnancy, it is the owner's fault as cats do as cats do. As for the irresponsible pet owners, you either bought the cat from a shop or adopted it from an adoption place somewhere. When you adopt or buy a pet, I'm pretty sure your pet becomes your life time 'partner'. Just because the cat's not playful or cute anymore is no reason for you to throw out your cat.This piece of advice is for kids, if you keep on disturbing your parents for a pet but you are not responsible enough to take care of it, clean up after it example, are you a responsible pet owner? If your pet is not playful anymore & you throw it out, are you a responsible pet owner?This is a piece of advice for parents. If your child pesters you for a pet, are you going to give in even though you know your child is either too young or irresponsible to keep a pet? Are you going to have the patience to clear up after the pet if your child is not doing it?For those who agree that stray cats should be wiped out, I have something else to say. You or your children only get the illness 'cause you touch the cats & don't wash your hands after that. You cannot blame the cats for that if you people don't watch our hygiene it's not the cats fault, it’s ours. First you’ll be like “oh look SO cute” or “kids get away from that cat”. Then when your child or you finish playing with the cat, you won’t wash your hands as soon as possible but touch your nose, mouth and other parts which can pick up the illness easily. Then you get angry and blame every thing on cats.Now let’s stop and think, is this fair for the cats? All they want is some attention, but after a few pets, maybe even being abused by some people, they are demanded dead. I am against kill strays because, I have 5 cats at home and I know this very lovely stray cat that is super affectionate. He lets people pet him without fear of being harmed at all. It is black with white paws. If he gets wiped out, I will be heart broken as I knew that cat since it was a kitten and even though I do not know its personality, I still like it dearly. Some people do the same thing. For some reason or other, they cannot keep the cats at home, so they let it roam out side and feed it. It won’t be nice to take the cats away from these people will it?Please people, reconsider. Are you going to harm cats because of our irresponsibility? Are you going to kill over hundreds of cats just because we don’t practice proper hygiene? Please people!
